Acupuncture is a collection of procedures involving the penetration of the skin with needles to stimulate certain points of the body. Five Element Acupuncture addresses the natural patterns of energy that exist in nature (metal, water, wood, fire and earth) and also in humans. Stresses can disturb the energy balance causing the five elements to go out of balance, resulting in a wide range of mental and physical symptoms.

Acupuncture is a tried and tested system of medicine that has been used for thousands of years to treat a huge range of conditions and for maintaining good health and strengthening the body’s resistance to illnesses. All Acupuncture therapy at Anam Cara is safe and only practiced by skilled, qualified and experienced practitioners.

Acupuncture Information:

Acupuncture typically involves the insertion of fine needles into specific places, the theory that we all have a Qi – an energy/life force – flowing throughout channels of meridians, along which lie the acupuncture points. Any disruption upsets the balance of Yin and Yang – two opposite balances for well being. To restore balance, an acupuncturist stimulates the relevant needles into specific points.

The focus of acupuncture is on tackling the root cause of problems. It is one of the oldest healing practices / techniques in the world. Stimulating specific acupuncture points corrects imbalances in the flow of qi through channels known as meridians. It is good for pain relief, anxiety, fertility, sleep disturbances, depression, grief and stress. Tongue and pulse assessments are used as well as moxibustion (heat treatment).
