Holistic Centre for Body, Mind & Spirit

Chiropractic care is a straightforward method of adjusting the bones of your body to improve the alignment of your skeleton, and through this process help the nervous system to work more efficiently. The purpose of chiropractic care is to realign and rebalance your body to relieve pain and discomfort, and increase mobility.

A misalignment of the joints can occur for many reasons; some of the most common are incorrect lifting, car or sporting accidents, falls, stress, and poor posture. This can lead to pain, discomfort (such as numbness or pins and needles), or restricted mobility.

Chiropractors are highly trained to correct these misalignments by using quick, dextrous and accurate adjustments which are generally comfortable for you to receive.

The McTimoney method is an effective and safe treatment, named after its originator John McTimoney. The McTimoney method comprises a variety of low force, high velocity adjustments. The McTimoney chiropractor only uses their hands to adjust and the key to the success of the adjustments is the speed, accuracy and dexterity with which they are performed. The treatment is often perceived by the patient as feeling very light and gentle. The McTimoney treatment is a whole body technique, so although a patient may present with low back pain, all joints of the body are checked (palpated) and adjusted if appropriate.

The gentle nature of the McTimoney method makes it especially suitable for people of all ages including young babies, pregnant women and the elderly. The following conditions often benefit from treatment:

  • Back, neck and shoulder pain
  • Pain, discomfort and stiffness in joints
  • Migraine
  • Muscular aches
  • Sports injuries
  • Arthritic pain
  • Tennis Elbow
  • Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

During a course of chiropractic care most patients feel physical changes as the body realigns. These may include a brief period of stiffness or tiredness, especially after the first session when your body is adapting to its new posture.

Your chiropractor will also give you aftercare and lifestyle advice to help you get the most out of your chiropractic care.
